JOSEPH BIDEN JR.
Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden, Jr. was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and lived there for ten years before moving to Delaware. He graduated from the University of Delaware with degrees in History and Political Science and went on to law school. After a couple of years in local politics, Biden was elected to the U.S. Senate in 1972 and became the sixth-youngest senator in U.S. history. Re-elected to the Senate six times, he became Vice President of the US in 2009 on the Obama/Biden ticket.

2004--Biden urges grads to be informed participants in the world
"Let it be about a generation that thrives on discovery, on exploration, on invention, a generation that wants to know everything there is to know, see everything there is to see, building everything there is to build, because you are resourceful, committed and curious, because you believe in your capacity to do more and to do better," says Biden (Anderson, 2004).

2008--Before heading to convention, a goodbye to his Amtrak 'family'
Sen. Joe Biden arrived to a rock star welcome Monday morning at the Wilmington train station, where the new presidential running mate shook hands, shot some one-liners and purchased a small coffee from Primo Cappuccino -- no sugar, no milk. "Way to go, Joe," a man shouted at Biden, as he greeted people lined outside the station's Front Street entrance (Parra, 2008).

2008--An Interview with Joe Biden
After most of the students at Friday's rally filed out of the fenced-in area in front of Memorial Hall, the few who remained shook the hand of Sen. Joe Biden before he returned to his holding room in Hullihen Hall. Biden, a 1965 graduate of the university and now one half of the 2008 Democratic presidential ticket, took some time to meet with The Review before heading on to another event in Ohio (Dattaro, 2008).

2009--Students to experience making of history
On Monday afternoon, approximately 275 members of the university's marching band will board charter buses to venture south to Fairfax, Va., sleep on the gym floor of a local high school, wake up at 3:30 a.m. and make the trek into Washington, D.C., to perform in the inauguration parade (Shannon and Kilmetis 2009).

2009--Inauguration brings university community together
As millions of Americans stood in the cold Washington, D.C. weather to see Barack Obama take the oath of office to become the 44th President of the United States, hundreds of members of the university community watched the festivities in Trabant University Center. Students streamed into Trabant's Multipurpose Rooms to watch the inauguration, where CNN's broadcast was projected on the big screen, and four other TVs scattered throughout the room showed coverage from MSNBC, ABC and CBS (Anderson, 2009).
